WHAT DO I WEAR?

dress code is black tie preferred.

for the gentlemen:
tuxedos are preferred and highly encouraged. dark suits with a necktie are also acceptable.

for the ladies:
tea- or floor-length dresses and gowns. glitz, glam, and extravagent gowns are welcomed and highly encouraged. PLEASE NOTE, THE BRIDE IS REQUESTING FOR the ladies to avoid wearing solid-colored black gowns to allow the bridal party to stand out.

can i bring my children to any of the wedding events?

no, all wedding events are adult-only.

is the wedding inside or outside?

the ceremony AND COCKTAIL HOUR will BE outside, while the reception will be inside.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS DURING THE CEREMONY AND POST THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN THE MOMENT, TRULY AND FULLY. PLEASE KEEP OUR CEREMONY PHONE AND CAMERA FREE AND AVOID POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA UNTIL THE CONCLUSION OF OUR CEREMONY.

what time should we arrive for the ceremony?

doors open at 4:30 pm. please arrive no later than 4:45 pm for a prompt 5:00 pm ceremony start.

what time will the wedding end? is there a party... after the party?

the wedding reception will end at 10:30 pm. we invite all our guests to join us following the reception for A PRIVATE room rental with LATE NIGHT bites and nightcaps at the daxton hotel FROM 10:30 PM TO 2:00 AM. 

will you be providing transportation to and from the wedding venue?

yes, please see our travel page for more information on transportation.

where can i park at the venue? CAN I LEAVE MY CAR OVERNIGHT?

parking is available on site and is within a short walking distance to the ceremony location. there will be golf carts throughout the parking lot picking up and shuttling guests to the ceremony location.
CARS ARE PERMITTED TO BE LEFT OVERNIGHT if necessary. PLEASE REMOVE ALL CARS NO LATER THAN 10 am ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 3. 

have you reserved A hotel block?

yes, we have reserved a block of rooms at the daxton hotel in birmingham. please see our travel page for more information.

what airport should i fly into?

we recommend flying into the detroit metro airport (dtw). dtw is located roughly 30 minutes from the daxton and roughly 60 minutes from shepherd’s hollow. for our minnesota natives, dtw is also a delta hub.

the flint bishop international airport (Fnt) is another option for our guests but has fewer flight options than dtw. fnt is located roughly 25 minutes from the wedding venue and 60 minutes from the daxton hotel.

should i rent a car?

Renting a car is a great option if you plan to explore the greater Detroit area. However, if you're staying at the Daxton Hotel, please note that parking is both limited and expensive. Valet parking is available at the hotel for $40 per day. Alternatively, Uber and Lyft are widely used and easily accessible throughout the metro Detroit area.

what is the welcome party? am i invited?

yes, everyone is invited! our welcome party will be an open-house style event FROM 6 PM TO 10 PM, and we encourage our guests to come and go as they wish. we hope to see you at our welcome party as we would love to spend as much time as possible with our family and friends traveling from near and far. cocktails, beer, wine and bites will be served throughout the evening.

where is the welcome party? 

The Welcome Party will be hosted at a privately-owned clubhouse on union lake and will not show up on google or apple maps by name. the clubhouse is located directly next to the union lake boat launch and has a checkered roof.

where are you registered? 

Celebrating with you is the best gift we could ask for. However, if you’d like to mark the occasion with a gift, we are registered with crate & barrel, williams sonoma, and with joy. please find our registry here. we kindly ask for gifts to be delivered to our home address in aurora, ohio.

we’re coming in from out of town - what should we do during our free time?

our hotel block is located in downtown birmingham, which is known for its boutique stores, trendy restaurants, cafes, and art galleries (for our minnesota natives, think 50th & france). ADDITIONALLY, royal oak is located roughly 10 minutes southeast of birmingham with lively bars, restaurants, and great nightlife. for our guests looking to explore further, birmingham is located roughly 25 minutes from downtown detroit and
60 minutes from ann arbor.

WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE SURE THE BRIDE AND GROOM HAVE THE BEST DAY EVER?
